If any other player in the NFL did what Richard Seymour(notes) did to Richie Incognito(notes) on Sunday, it wouldn't have merited a flag, let alone an ejection. But when you're a player with a reputation for cheap shots and getting into on-field altercations, the normal rules don't always apply.
Watch the full replay of Seymour engaging in some extracurriculars with Incognito and decide for yourself if the flag and ejection were warranted:
Seymour's reputation precedes him and it leads to officials watching him closer and judging him more harshly than other players. It's a byproduct of his past. Ndamukong Suh(notes) can expect the same exact treatment when he returns from his two-game suspension later this month.
The irony in all this is that the "victim" in this whole affair, Incognito, is known as one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. He was ranked sixth in that category by his peers earlier this year. Seymour didn't get a vote. Whatever he was doing to Richie, it was probably well deserved.
What did you think?
